At the county-level, positivity and per capita testing rates are shown for confirmatory laboratory tests (PCR and molecular detection) only. Due to smaller population numbers, county-level data is presented over a 14-day window and updated weekly on Mondays. Average positive test rate is the percentage of coronavirus tests that are positive for the virus in the past 14 days out of the total tests reported in that time period. Fatality rate is the proportion of people who die of those who tested positive for COVID-19.What is the difference between state-level and county-level community transmission levels?
The state-level community transmission indicator provides an “at-a-glance” picture of a state’s overall community transmission level. The county-level community transmission level provides a picture at the local level and is used as the basis for CDC’s updated guidance.
