What makes an aquifer able to store water A permeable material has a greater number of larger, well-connected pores spaces, whereas an impermeable material has fewer, smaller pores that are poorly connected.
How many aquifers is there in Texas?There are nine major aquifers (Fig. 7.1) and 21 minor aquifers (Fig. 7.2) in Texas. A major aquifer contains large amounts of water spread across a large area. Minor aquifers contain smaller amounts of water spread over large areas, or larger amounts of water spread over small areas.
Where does an aquifer get its water?Where does an aquifer get its water from? An aquifer is a body of porous rock or sediment saturated with groundwater. Groundwater enters an aquifer as precipitation seeps through the soil. It can move through the aquifer and resurface through springs and wells.
