Feb 25, 2016 · Previous versions of Excel did this but 2010 immediately opens the file. I deal with CSV files that use different delimeters (pipe, semicolon, etc) so when Excel opens the file without the wizard, I often have to click on a cell and manually open the import wizard. Jul 04, 2018 · Your observations about how .csv files open is exactly correct. This is the way Excel is designed to work. Excel will use a set of defaults to guess when you double-click a file in Finder. Excel will use the Import Wizard when you use File > Open. The wizard is also available on the Data tab of the Ribbon using the From Text button.
