colour, also spelled color, the aspect of any object that may be described in terms of hue, lightness, and saturation. In physics, colour is associated specifically with electromagnetic radiation of a certain range of wavelengths visible to the human eye.
What makes a color 'cool' or 'warm'?Hues are variations of a base color on the color wheel. Color are often divided in cool and warm according to how we perceive them. Greens and blues are cool, whilst reds and yellows are warm. Color harmonies are pleasing color schemes created according to their position on a color wheel.
What are the different effects of colors on people? When it comes to communication, color is unbeatable. Unconscious or otherwise, color can evoke emotions, inspire reactions, and change modes of thinking. It can excite or soothe your mood, raise or lower your blood pressure, and even whet your appetite!
How did the word color come to be?The word color has its roots (unsurprisingly) in the Latin word color. It entered Middle English through the Anglo-Norman colur, which was a version of the Old French colour. The current difference in spelling between the American and British variants is credited to (or occasionally blamed on) Noah Webster, the American lexicographer.
