WEBOverview. Acoustic neuromas, also known as vestibular schwannomas, arise from the hearing and balance nerve. While some patients have no noticeable symptoms or problems, others complain of dizzy spells, vertigo, trouble hearing, facial numbness, and sometimes weakness and swallowing difficulties.
